Life is still going to be full of challenges that will test your limits. Still, being sober allows you to slow down and deal with what&#8217;s in front of you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Learning to learn.\u00a0<\/strong>You are not able to bravely look back at your mistakes and what life has thrown at you without any fear or bitterness. You learn from your past and overcome what obstacle there is in your present. You have a keener eye on the lessons that life has to offer and you welcome these positively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Positivity.\u00a0<\/strong>If before you act like a victim or are skeptic when it comes to trying new things, now you have a more positive outlook in life. Despite all the triumphs and tribulations, you are still able to face life with a smile.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Support system.\u00a0<\/strong>Being in recovery now gives you plenty of support systems, from family, close friends, to peers who are also going through recovery with you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Self-reflection.\u00a0<\/strong>You have learned so many things in the process of recovery and sobriety and one of these is self-reflection. You learn to understand how and why things happen the way they do, but you don&#8217;t let it get to you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Experiencing life.\u00a0<\/strong>While life can throw at you so many things you never even imagined you can handle, well, you are faring quite well. You are guided by the tools you learned in rehab as well as the cultivated discipline that grounds you and directs your thoughts, drives, motivations, and actions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9.\u00a0Spiritual undercurrent.\u00a0<\/strong>You now know that while you are responsible with your life, you still acknowledge that there is a higher power than you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10. Savings!\u00a0<\/strong>While before money was just a tool to feed your ego and your addiction, you now look at money, work hard for it, and find ways to make it work for you. You look at your wallet and smile: your moulah may not be that much, but it&#8217;s yours and you&#8217;re not spending it on drinks or drugs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>13. Paying it forward.\u00a0<\/strong>You can&#8217;t keep it unless you give it away, so you pay it forward. You share what you know and what you&#8217;ve learned to help those who are now in a place where you once were.<\/p>\n<p><strong>14. You&#8217;re you and it feels good.\u00a0<\/strong>You take all that you are&#8211;lessons, mistakes, shortcomings, successes, and all&#8211;and you love it.
