They run the risk of having problems in the workplace, dangerous accidents, costly problems, and damage to the employee&#8217;s morale and the company&#8217;s reputation.<\/p>\n<p>To put it simply, alcohol and drug abuse in the workplace can increase the risk for the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>fatal accidents<\/li>\n<li>injuries<\/li>\n<li>absenteeism and tardiness<\/li>\n<li>decreased performance and productivity<\/li>\n<li>cases of theft<\/li>\n<li>low morale in the work environment<\/li>\n<li>high turnover<\/li>\n<li>disciplinary problems<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><b>Drug abuse in the workplace&#8211;What can you do?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In organizations where there&#8217;s a high rate of employee substance abuse, employers can create a supportive environment where their employees can turn to for help. Employers can also refer their employees to short-term counselling and rehab programs where they can get assessment and treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from this, employees can also implement a drug-free workplace and strict substance abuse policies.
