  1. They love the attention.\u00a0<\/strong>A pathological liar wants to always be the center of attention, and so will make up all sorts of stories to get an audience.<\/li>\n
  2. They have outrageous stories. <\/strong>Their stories can often be so unbelievable that they’re even absolutely pointless, when you think about it.<\/li>\n
  3. They make themselves look better.\u00a0<\/strong>They will make up events that will cover up their mistakes or shortcomings. In their stories, aka lies,\u00a0a pathological liar will\u00a0never in a bad light, only in the spotlight.<\/li>\n
  4. They are always the victim. <\/strong>A pathological liar will also get attention by painting themselves a victim of every situation. They will not only lie about the good things in their lives, they will also lie about the bad things to seek attention.<\/li>\n
  5. They have poor self-esteem.\u00a0<\/strong>And this is why they lie–to make them feel better about themselves.<\/li>\n
  6. They’re keen.\u00a0<\/strong>They can sense who is gullible in a crowd and will therefore draw the person out so that they could feed lies and maybe even get something from them in return. Many pathological liars take advantage of other people this way.<\/li>\n

So if a pathological liar is a close friend and you know they’re lying about this one life story to another person without even batting an eyelash, then that’s something to be concerned about.<\/li>\n
  9. They are chameleons.\u00a0<\/strong>Pathological liars put up a highly believable act. To do this, they must mold themselves in front of different people and different situations.<\/li>\n
  10. They have underlying behavioral disorders.\u00a0<\/strong>Many pathological liars often suffer from diagnosed or undiagnosed mental and\/or behavioral disorders, such as bipolar disorder, behavioral addiction, or substance addiction.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The first step to helping a pathological liar in your life is to get them to admit that they have a problem. They may even have underlying disorders that compel or push them to lie, and this needs immediate treatment or help.<\/p>\n
