On June 16, Bridges of Hope Drug and Alcohol Foundation Program Director Gimo Gomez was invited by News5 anchor Luchi Cruz-Valdez for an interview on her show, late night news magazine, ReAksyon. The interview was spurred by the latest incident involving youths who died in the Close-Up Forever Summer event, where the victims allegedly died due to drug overdose. The interview was also timely as the country ushers in a new president, former Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who was well-known on his strong stance against illegal drugs.
Veteran news anchor Cruz-Valdez interviewed Gomez on his take on the recent Close-Up Forever Summer incident, as well as his views and experiences on drugs, addiction, and rehabilitation.
In the first part of the 15-minute interview, as shown above, Gomez shared about his own introduction to drugs, as well as how his addiction developed through the years, particularly when the “addiction switch” was turned on. He also discusses the different kinds of drugs and how dangerous it is to take them, especially Ecstast, or MDMA, which was the alleged drug the victims took at the Forever Summer dance party.
The show aired its first part last June 16 on channel 5 at 10:45 pm.
