Do you want to get your life back together—and for the better?
This may be one of the questions that led you here. This is Bridges Of Hope’s first and only blog designed to reach out to everyone who is affected by addiction—alcohol, sex, gambling, drugs and all its other forms. Whether you have a loved one suffering from addiction or you are the one dependent yourself, you can find hope here. Aside from this, we also aim to spread awareness to everyone about the harmful and debilitating effects of addiction.
River Phoenix, a famous actor who died of a drug overdose once said:
“Addiction is not just for bad people or scumbags—it’s a universal disease”
Much like any other disease from the common cold to cancer, addiction can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, social status, or any other demographic. Addiction does not choose which person it engulfs, whose lives it destroys. When a person is addicted to something, his family and other people around him are badly affected as well. In addition, the risks involved in addiction are endless. However, unlike any disease, there is no cure for addiction—only constant and continuing recovery.
Russell Brand, a comedian, actor, author, activist, and recovering addict said:
“The mentality and behavior of drug addicts and alcoholics is wholly irrational until you understand that they are completely powerless over their addiction and unless they have structured help, they have no hope.”
Change is the key and it opens up to hope. Here at Bridges of Hope, we stay true to our name by helping those suffering from addiction to take steps to change their lives and rebuild hope for a better future. Much like our facility aims to provide shelter and haven for dependents, this blog also hopes to extend our wide-open arms to those who are in need of support.
Thus, we welcome you.
