The drug has now recently been under closer scrutiny with <a href=\"https:\/\/cnnphilippines.com\/news\/2016\/05\/23\/close-up-forever-summer-concert-pasay-timeline.html\">reports<\/a> of 5 youths dying in a concert from what was suspected as party-drug use. So what&#8217;s with all the rave?<\/h3>\n<p>Ecstasy, also known as Molly and MDMA, has been widely popular in the \u201880s and \u201890s, especially in the rolling, all-night rave parties and electronic dance music scenes. It popularly comes in the form of whimsical, colorful pills. It can also come in capsule, powder, or liquid form. This drug is derived from amphetamine, which is similar to methamphetamine and mescaline (a hallucinogen).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Effects of Ecstasy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Within an hour of taking the drug, it already affects the brain by releasing a trio of powerful neurotransmitters that bring a powerful surge of pleasure to the brain. Some can even equate the effects of MDMA as a spiritual experience.<\/p>\n<p>The other effects of Ecstasy are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Burst of energy<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced tactile experience<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced sensory perception<\/li>\n<li>Reduced inhibitions<\/li>\n<li>Decreased anxiety<\/li>\n<li>Feeling of euphoria<\/li>\n<li>Feeling a sense of well-being<\/li>\n<li>Distorted sense of time<\/li>\n<li>Feeling of closeness and connection<\/li>\n<li>Heightened sexuality \/ hypersexuality<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Why is it so dangerous?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ecstasy can cause many dangerous effects to the brain and body.<\/p>\n<p>The surge of neurotransmitters eventually ends, and the come-down can be hard and fast. Its effects are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anxiety<\/li>\n<li>Restlessness<\/li>\n<li>Irritability<\/li>\n<li>Violence and\/or aggression<\/li>\n<li>Depression<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meanwhile, the body can experience the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dehydration<\/li>\n<li>Increased toxic levels in the blood, causing overdose<\/li>\n<li>Muscle cramping<\/li>\n<li>Clenching jaw<\/li>\n<li>Tremors<\/li>\n<li>Blurred vision<\/li>\n<li>Loss of consciousness<\/li>\n<li>Elevated heart rate<\/li>\n<li>Elevated blood pressure<\/li>\n<li>Significant increase in body temperature (hyperthermia)<\/li>\n<li>Muscle breakdown and organ failure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Is it worth the rave?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many people like the appeal of Ecstasy, today more known as Molly or Love Drug, because they have this perception that it isn\u2019t as hardcore as something like meth or cocaine.
