Find out here.<\/h3>\n<p>Many people these days say they&#8217;re addicted to chocolates, makeup, coffee, books, juicing,\u00a0a certain brand of clothing, or what-have-you. However, most of what they call addictions are simply behaviors that they just can&#8217;t do without.<\/p>\n<p>Are these really addictions? Where do you draw the line between? This distinction is based on factors such as time spent engaging in the behavior or deed, chemical reactions occurring in the brain, and the presence of withdrawal symptoms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is it a habit or addiction?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicaldaily.com\/when-and-how-does-habit-become-addiction-397495\" target=\"_blank\">Medical Daily<\/a>, every habit undergoes something called a &#8220;habit loop.&#8221; At first, the habit is triggered by something, like a feeling or situation, and accomplishing the habit causes pleasure in the brain, the reward. As time passes, the habit can become addiction.<\/p>\n<p>For example, you like having a glass of wine after a hard day&#8217;s work. Eventually, one glass becomes two glasses, and soon you get the urge to drink even in the middle of the day. This habit becomes addiction when you can&#8217;t function anymore without that activity. The same thing happens in substance use, that turns to abuse, and eventually addiction.<\/p>\n<p>Not all habits become addictions, however. Still, many find a habit hard to\u00a0break. And for addictions, stopping it becomes exponentially harder.<\/p>\n<p>If you feel like your favorite behavior or activity has become a full-fledged addiction, you may need to consider talking to a specialist or a therapist.
