Meth or shabu is a highly dangerous and addictive drug that stimulates your brain by releasing copious and unnatural amounts of dopamine to induce a so-called “high” which is a blissful, euphoric feeling. However, as you use shabu, it will take over your brain and push you to take more doses more often and before you know it, you’re already hooked and addicted.

While we have already discussed the effects of meth in many of our blog posts, we want to emphasize how shabu affects how you look over time. Sure, shabu users feel confident and uninhibited while they’re under the influence of the drug, but when the chemical’s effects wear off, they’re left looking at the mirror at someone they now barely know. The glow on their skin is gone, the bright sparkle in their eyes is now dull, their teeth are now rotting and they have bad breath, and their skin have scabs and scars from continuous picking.
In the world where selfies are now prevalent and you’re bound to post a picture of yourself for the world to see, have you taken a good look at yourself after being hooked on shabu for so long? Have you seen how it has changed not just your behavior and mind but also the way you look?
Here’s how shabu changes your face–for the worst.

Grey, Leathery Skin
Meth can change the texture and color of your skin, making you look 45 even if you’re just 21. Meth constricts your blood vessels, lessening the blood flow to your skin, so you lose your skin’s glow. Gradually, meth destroys these blood vessels, incapacitating your skin to regenerate and keep itself healthy. As a result, your skin looks dull, greyish, and leathery.
Oily Skin
Since shabu is a stimulant that boosts your focus and energy, it also raises your heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature. This means you also sweat more, thereby ruining your skin’s normal perspiration functions. As a result, your skin becomes oily, and with this comes breakouts and acne.
Also, many shabu users care less about their personal hygiene as they are only focused on finding ways to get the drug. They are less likely to bathe, wash their faces, brush their teeth, or observe good hygiene and grooming habits.
Skin Sores
Since skin doesn’t heal properly due to meth, you are also prone to develop skin sores. Also known as “meth mites,” these sores occur from continuous and persistent scratching of the skin, causing scabs and sores. This is due to the feeling of having ants or bugs under your skin. This is actually a form of hallucination, causing them to obsessively pick on their skin with nails and even other objects to the point that scratches and wounds form and bleed. These sores take a longer time to heal compared to non meth users who get wounds and actual insect bites. They can also get infected because of inadequate hygiene.
