addicted-to-complaining

Ever wonder why some people always have something to complain about? They might be addicted to complaining.

Whether it’s a perfectly fine day, for them the sun could be shining too brightly. They have everything they could ever want, and yet they’re still awfully unhappy. Whatever situation the complainer is, there will always be something wrong, something to complain about.

Actually, complaining is more about your state of mind than the little details or situations you find yourself in. And you know what–complaining can become addictive.

People can indeed be addicted to complaining.

Complaining Addiction

For some people, a day is not complete without something to complain about. Complaining can be a way of life for them.

No matter how great things are, they can find something wrong.

People who complain are essentially those who have done nothing to develop and nurture a loving relationship with their inner self. Their disposition is of that of a wounded person, a victim. They need attention and love, and this they seek out from others.

Complaining is a way for them to get attention, compassion, and love from other people. They complain as a way to control others, sucking out their energy because they are in themselves hollow.

A person addicted to complaining likes to get attention as a way to fill a void that they themselves can’t fill. Like all addiction, this may work for a moment, but it never can fill that deep need for love, which they could satiate were they only capable of self-love.

Stop your addiction to compaining

Inasmuch as complaining wires your brain to be constantly negative, you can still rewire it. Here are ways to retrain your brain:

  • Focus only on things that you can control.
  • If you still can’t help to complain, give yourself a five-minute pass to vent out, and then move on.
  • Before you give in to the urge to always see what’s wrong, stop and take stock of what’s right and great in your life.
  • Use constructive language. Start this habit now.
  • Be around positive people.
  • Have a positive attitude.
