The internet is abuzz with a new inspirational story, this time from Ryan Harder, a guy who posted his before and after photos on Reddit.

Harder, a young recovering addict from St. Paul, Minnesota used to be addicted to marijuana and then meth. He started with marijuana and alcohol at a young age, and soon become addicted at the age of 14. He tried to get clean and sober on his own many times, and in between these, he got into multiple arrests. He was convicted with seven misdemeanors, a DUI, and a felony. He was also into at least 10 rehab centers. However, it was his addiction to meth that led to the darkest times of his life.

In his Reddit post titled I quit meth a year ago. It’s crazy how much can change, he wrote, “I was going to jump off the bridge because I’d had enough of the lifestyle of being high, being homeless, having nowhere to go and being completely unhappy.” His post earned over 2 million views and thousands of comments.

By the time he posted his photos, he is 23 and nine months into his complete sobriety. He now lives in a sober community, working full-time and working hard to rebuild relationships that were once broken due to his addictions.

He posted his story to help restore his own motivation as well as encourage others in their struggle with addiction or their journey in sobriety.
