Last April 22, we celebrated Earth Day, a movement and celebration of modern environmentalism, which is on its 45th year now. Earth Day capitalizes on the emerging and increasing consciousness not only of the anti-war advocacies that formed its roots in the 1970s but also the drive for environmental awareness and preservation efforts as a priority.
In a way, the Earth Day as a celebration of living on earth and taking care of it as its stewards echoes our own lives as we also rehabilitate ourselves. The pollution prevalent in Mother Earth causing it so much trouble and sickness can be paralleled to the pollution in our lives and our body, which are substance abuse and destructive behaviors.
As Earth Day reminds us to celebrate our planet and drive home further efforts for everyone to protect it, it is also a great time for us to look into ourselves and what we can do to make Mother Nature better–and make our own lives better.
This is the perfect time to go outside, soak up the bright summer sun, head to the beach, or simply have a whiff of fresh air. Appreciate our life and the new beginning that gives us the opportunity to make our lives better–to simply live in the best way we can.
Why Not Plant Trees or Better Yet–Try Gardening!
And if that’s not enough, consider how you can help the Earth Day movement in your own way, which can also help you clear up your own mind. Maybe this is a way for you to take on a new hobby and keep yourself occupied and inspired.
Gardening is a great way to make your world a little greener. Spending time outdoors and cultivating other living things may even provide you with a slew of benefits:
- Enhanced concentration
- Goal-setting and planning
- Having something to look forward to
- Increased self-esteem
- Establish new rewards systems
- Enhanced mood and disposition
- Decreased stress and anxiety
- Greater sense of nurturing
- Greater sense of control and discipline
- Improved immune system
- Relaxation and lower heart rate
In fact, growing plants, trees, shrubs and herbs may even teach you a thing or two about the world, other people, and yourself.
Plant seeds of positivity and watch it grow exponentially!
