Bridges of Hope UTC 1 Seminar Attendees

Held last March 27 to 29, the Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) 1 seminar titled “Understanding Sobriety” is another installment of a series of UTC seminars that Bridges of Hope Drugs and Alcohol Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc (BH) has been hosting. “Understanding Sobriety” is the second seminar hosted by BH, the first one, UTC 8,  held November last year to help attendees get more insights into addiction, rehab, recovery, and sobriety.

This particular seminar centers on UTC 1, which is about Physiology and Pharmacology for those aspiring to be a credentialed addiction professional. This seminar, held in MEDTek Conference Center in Paranaque City, Metro Manila, is attended by over 40 addiction professionals, counselors, and volunteers from within the country and even from abroad. This particular seminar aims to help attendees understand what makes a person addicted, what drugs can cause people to be addicted, its mental and physical effects, and how addiction can be diagnosed.

UTC 1 Seminar “Understanding Sobriety” is attended by Bridges of Hope’s own executives and staff, as well as counselors from other rehabilitation centers. There are also volunteers, social workers, and recovering drug dependents as well.

This 3-day seminar includes the seminar proper, which was facilitated by seasoned and certified addiction professionals, such as Bridges of Hope’s own Senior Program Director, Guillermo “Gimo” Gomez. It also included team activities, exercises, and open forums and discussions for professionals to share their knowledge, experiences, and best practices. This seminar is one of the many requirements people need to become an internationally certified and credentialed addiction professional by ICCE, or the International Centre for Credentialing and Education of Addiction Professionals.

This is the second time that Bridges of Hope has hosted a UTC seminar, and more are scheduled to be conducted for the rest of the year.
